Kiswel MY-18 (AWS E7018) is a high-quality iron powder, low-hydrogen electrode for 490 MPa grade steel, designed for demanding structural and industrial welding applications. Its thick basic-type coating provides a stable arc, low spatter, easy slag removal, and excellent mechanical properties, making MY-18 a dependable choice for high-strength fabrication where weld quality and productivity are important.

Designed for versatile welding performance, MY-18 delivers excellent arc stability and concentration in both flat/horizontal fillet and vertical-up positions. Its iron powder formulation also provides increased electrode efficiency, while producing satisfactory bead appearance and consistent weld quality across a wide range of welding currents.

  • Redry the electrodes at 300–400°C for 1–2 hours prior to use.

Kiswel MY-18 (AWS E7018) is ideal for industries requiring a high-strength, low-hydrogen electrode with excellent mechanical properties and productive welding performance. Its stable arc, low spatter, iron powder coating and excellent slag characteristics make it particularly suitable for demanding structural fabrication where reliable weld integrity and consistent performance are required.

MY-18 is suitable for general structural fabrication, shipbuilding, pipe welding, cast steel, boiler and pressure vessel fabrication. Kiswel lists compatible materials including structural steels S185, S235, S275 and S355, ship steels from ASTM A131 Grades A, B and D through AH32–EH36, pipe steels L210–L415 and API X42–X60, as well as pressure-vessel steels including P235GH, P265GH, P295GH and 355GH.

The electrode is classified as AWS A5.1 E7018, JIS Z 3211 E4918, EN ISO 2560-A E 42 3 B 32 H10, and EN ISO 2560-B E 49 18 A U H10. Typical weld-metal properties reported by Kiswel include 550 MPa yield strength, 610 MPa tensile strength, 30% elongation, and 170 J impact toughness at −30°C, demonstrating excellent strength and low-temperature toughness for demanding industrial welding applications.
