Kiswel MY-16R (AWS E7016) is a high-quality basic-coated, low-hydrogen electrode specially developed for root pass welding of pipes. Designed to provide excellent control and dependable weld quality during critical root-pass applications, MY-16R combines strong mechanical properties with excellent vertical-up welding characteristics.
Its stable arc performance, easy slag removal, and clean bead appearance make MY-16R particularly suitable for pipe welding and other demanding industrial applications where sound root penetration and consistent weld quality are required. The electrode can be used with AC or DC+ power sources and is suitable for multiple welding positions.

MY-16R is suitable for pipe fabrication, general structural fabrication, shipbuilding, cast steel, boiler and pressure vessel applications. Compatible materials listed by Kiswel include structural steels S185, S235, S275 and S355, ship steels from ASTM A131 Grades A, B and D through AH32–EH36, and pipe steels including L210, L240, L290, L360, L415 and API X42–X60.
The electrode is classified as AWS A5.1 E7016, JIS Z 3211 E4916, EN ISO 2560-A E 42 3 B 12 H10, and EN ISO 2560-B E 49 16 A U H10. Typical weld-metal properties reported by Kiswel include 540 MPa yield strength, 630 MPa tensile strength, 29% elongation and 90 J impact toughness at −30°C, supporting its use in demanding pipe and structural welding applications.
